Ever since it was founded in 2009, Dallas Art Fairhas been visited by more than 85,000 guests. Situated in the heart of the downtown Arts District, the fair offers collectors, arts professional, and the public the opportunity to engage with a rich selection of modern and contemporary artworks by leading national and international galleries.
This year, Dallas Art Fair is celebrating an incredible milestone. The fair comes back for the tenth timethis April with a new generation of leadership, an internationally renowned selection of galleries and an expanding collectors base.
The fair’s veterans Kelly Cornell and Brandon Kennedy have stepped up as Fair Directors this year, and the Co-founder John Sughrue as Chairman. They aim to further diversify community engagement and dialogue with arts patrons across the globe.
Dallas Art Fair 2018 will bring together nearly 100 prominent national and international exhibitorsfeaturing modern and contemporary artists working across a wide range of mediums and styles, including painting, sculpture, works on paper, photography, video and installation.
This year’s proceeds from ticket sales to the Dallas Art Fair’s Annual Preview Benefit will be donated to the Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas Contemporary and the Nasher Sculpture Center.
The tenth edition of the fair promises to be nothing less than spectacular. Through thoughtfully curated exhibitions and innovative programming, the fair will certainly encourage lively conversations and provide an opportunity for exciting discoveries.
Dallas Art Fair 2018 Exhibitors
For its tenth edition, the fair will bring together nearly 100 participants coming from around 30 different cities. This edition will welcome almost 30 new galleries, including James Cohan Gallery from New York, Van Doren Waxter from New York, Casey Kaplan from New York, Paul Kasmin Gallery from New York, Rachel Uffner Gallery from New York, Green Art Gallery from Dubai, The Hole from New York, Luhring Augustine from New York and PRAZ-DELAVALLADE from Paris and Los Anegeles, among others.
Also be sure to check out booths by Galerie Lelongfrom Paris, representing prominent contemporary artists and estates from the United States, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia; Galeria Enrique Guerrero, with a group of young artists who form a part of the emerging scene, with a contemporary vision and self-sustainable proposals; Marlborough Contemporary from London and New York that exhibits both historical and new work by international artists; Perrotin from Paris, Hong Kong and New York, Simon Lee Gallery from London, New York, Hong Kong; Simon Lee Gallery from London, New York, and Hong Kong, representing over 35 established and emerging contemporary artists and estates; Beatriz Esguerra Art from Bogotá, focusing on Latin American and Colombian art; Galeria Javier Lopez & Fer Frances from Madrid, presenting both the work of young artists more established figures; SMAC Gallery from Capetown, Johannesburg, and Stellenbosch, a leading South African contemporary art gallery representing established and emerging artists from South Africa, Africa, and further afield; and Whitestone Gallery from Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo and Karuizawa, specializing in Japanese art such as Yayoi Kusama and Yoshitomo Nara and other contemporary art and gutai art groups; among others.
The Program
In collaboration with the Dallas Museum of Art, the tenth edition of the Fair will present a third iteration of the Dallas Art Fair Foundation Acquisition. Led by museum Director Agustín Arteaga and Curator Katherine Brodbeck, donors will select works directly from participating galleries to be purchased for the museum’s permanent collection. As the Fair’s Co-Director, Brandon Kennedy explains, this collaboration “boosts curatorial expansion and bolsters the growth of a collection that will continue to enrich the city for years to come.”
As part of Dallas Arts Month, the fair will also present events by local institutions, including solo exhibitions with Sara Rahbar, Eric Fischl and Harry Nuriev at the Dallas Contemporary, Laura Owens at the Dallas Museum of Art, Adam Gordon at the Power Station, and at the exhibition First Sculpture: Handaxe to Figure Stone at the Nasher Sculpture Center and Nasher Prize Dialogues with Theaster Gates.
Practical Information
Dallas Art Fair 2018 will take place at the Fashion Industry Gallery in Dallas from April 13th until April 15th, 2018.
The Dallas Art Fair Collector Preview will take place on Thursday, April 12th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be accessible with a Patron Pass, while the Dallas Art Fair Preview Benefit will take place between 6 to 10 p.m. for Patron Pass holders and from 7 to 10 p.m. for Preview Benefit Ticket holders.
The fair will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. between Friday and Saturday and from 12 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The price of the 1 Day Pass will be $25 ($20 for Seniors and Students), the price of the 3 Day Pass will be $50 ($40 for Seniors and Students), while the Patron Pass will be $500 and the Preview Benefit Ticket will be $300.
