Cristin TierneyNew York

Founded in 2010, Cristin Tierney Gallery is a contemporary art gallery located on The Bowery with a deep commitment to the presentation, development, and support of artists. Our program emphasizes artists engaged with critical theory and art history, with an emphasis on conceptual, video, and performance art. Education and audience engagement is central to our mission.

Significant past exhibitions and projects include “Post-Movement: Art of the Seventies;” “Concrete Remains: Postwar and Contemporary Art from Brazil;” “Dear Mr. Thanatos: Modern and Contemporary Art from Latin America;” “Helen Lundeberg: Classic Attitude;” “peter campus: circa 1987;" "Dread Scott: We're Going to End Slavery. Join Us!"; “Mary Lucier: Paris Dawn Burn;” and “Victor Burgin: Photopath.” The gallery was an instrumental collaborator in bringing Dread Scott's NFT "White Male for Sale" to auction at Christie's in 2021--a work named as one of the defining artworks of the year by ARTnews. Upcoming exhibitions will feature new works by Mary Lucier, Sara Siestreem, Joan Linder, and Roger Shimomura.

In addition to its exhibition program, Cristin Tierney Gallery has released several printed and digital publications. Titles include "John Wood and Paul Harrison: The First 30 Years;" "Meet Me Halfway: Selections from the Anita Reiner Collection;" and "Dread Scott: We're Going to End Slavery. Join Us!" The gallery is spearheading a catalogue raisonné that will document peter campus’ oeuvre.
