Morán MoránLOS ANGELES, Mexico City
Established in 2008, Morán Morán focuses on exhibitions of contemporary art, representing emerging and mid-career artists as well as presenting historical material. Since its early years, the gallery has supported exploration and collaboration, inviting curators and artists to conceive exhibitions, performances, and happenings to expand programming beyond the traditional gallery model. These endeavors imprinted a freeform and experimental identity early on, as well as establishing a history of discovery, which serves as the gallery’s foundation.
In the early 2010s, the gallery honed its artist representation and nearly doubled its programming, including the addition of the Robert Mapplethorpe Estate in 2013. Consequently, the gallery grew a broader audience for their artists and more opportunities for their work, unlimited in scope and scale. In 2021, Morán Morán underwent a significant expansion, moving into a larger space within Los Angeles and opening its first international outpost in Mexico City, and during this same year added the estates of John Giorno and Dash Snow to the gallery roster. The gallery encourages all artists to experiment within their practice, offering the public to engage with work that is both accessible and rigorous, with a firm conviction toward inclusivity and diversity.
The accomplishments of our represented artists include consistent inclusion in major global biennials and triennials, as well as receiving awards and recognitions such as Guggenheim Fellows; Rome Prize Fellows; Louis Comfort Tiffany grant recipients; USA Rockefeller Fellows; Getty Research Institute Visiting Scholars; Radcliffe Institute Fellows; Heinz Award recipients; Mohn Award recipients; Ellsworth Kelly Awardees; Joan Mitchell Grantees; and several Rauschenberg residents. These artists’ works are included in every prestigious American institution and dozens of noteworthy international institutions.
